Yeah, well that didn't work out

hahaha, since my most recent post things have gone down hill. I was stuck in bed for 5 days, in what can only be described as THE WORST PAIN I'VE EVER FELT. Keep in mind, 2 of my 3 kids were born "naturally" and very, very quickly. This was worse. After 2 days of listening to me cry every time I had to stand up or move my leg in any way, my husband forced me to the doctor. Diagnosis: piched sciatic. Yeah, I knew that. They gave me 30 Vicodan and sent me on my way. 2 days later, all Vicodan was gone. I was up to 3 every 2 hours just to keep the pain managable. Back to the doc we go, this time for a more in-depth look. Back xrays and an MRI. Also, RX for Percoset and a muscle relaxer. Ahhhh. Finally a break from the pain enough for me to get a semi-decent nights sleep. The MRI revealed a herniated disc in my lumbar area, causing inflammation of the sciatic, yada yada yada. Unfortunately it caused some minor (I guess) nerve damage. I now have numbness (think massive dose of novocaine numb) in half my foot including the ball, heel and two last toes, my entire calf and the upper thigh/hip area of both legs. This has been interesting. I almost always walk with a limp now, especially when I'm tired. I absolutely cannot stand on my tip-toes on my left foot alone. Weird. It just doesn't work. And worst of all, I can barely run. It's more of a loping skip. Not doing that in a marathon, no thanks. I'm disappointed, but I shall persevere. It may take a year or two longer. At least I can walk. I just have to be aware, because too much strain can cause another flare up and believe me, I would rather just chop my leg off than feel that again.
